Intratuin successfully moves its store automation to the AXI cloud

Intratuin, the retail formula for garden, home, and pet stores, has 65 stores, 52 of which are in the Netherlands, 3 in Belgium, and 10 in Germany.

Since March 1, 2022, employees at Intratuin branches in the Netherlands and Belgium have been working with the AXI Retail Cloud Suite store automation solution from the AXI cloud. "This is fully in line with our strategy to further professionalize and adopt more cloud-based solutions," explains Marco van Putten, IT Manager at Intratuin.

Standardization

Thanks to the use of the AXI Retail Cloud Suite, Intratuin employees can checkout quickly via the AXI RS cash registers. In 2020, Intratuin decided to migrate to the Everest version of the AXI Retail platform to take full advantage of the extensive standard functionalities.

"We are delighted to be able to serve Intratuin from our cloud. We already do this for several other retail clients, such as Intergamma, Lagardère Travel Retail, ANWB, and NS Stations. We see that we can maximize our service there," says Luc Vlaeminckx, ICT Solution Architect at AXI. "Moreover, all our procedures and certifications, such as ISAE 3402 and ISO 27001, are based on this offering."

Flexibility and peace of mind

With the AXI Retail Cloud Suite from the cloud, Intratuin benefits from continuous uptime in a highly secure environment.

Marco Van Putten continues: "We're relieved of all our worries, that's what matters to us. This allows us to focus on our business. We also now enjoy greater flexibility, because we can scale up or down whenever necessary."

Stores continue to operate as usual

The stores experienced no disruption whatsoever during the migration to the cloud. This is, of course, thanks to the careful preparation that preceded the migration. There was intensive collaboration between the Intratuin project team and AXI's technical engineers, both on the software development side and in terms of infrastructure support.

All the prep work paid off handsomely: during the migration weekend, everything went very smoothly, as it should.

Ready for the season

The migration project was completed just before the peak spring season.

"The Intratuin users we spoke with indicated that the entire system is faster than before, allowing employees to perform their work much more efficiently," adds Eric Damstra. His team was responsible for this project. "We deliberately adopted the "as is" approach to minimize risks. From now on, we can continue optimizing."

Full transparency & responsibilities

The stores previously operated in an on-premises environment from the Intratuin data center. AXI was already responsible for the technical management of this, but there was still some confusion at times. This is now more transparent: the availability of the Intratuin store environment is now entirely AXI's responsibility.

"From the stores' perspective, the migration to the cloud is a major step. Our Microsoft 365 environment and accounting software were already available from the cloud, and now we've added our business-critical AXI Retail Cloud Suite, which guarantees complete management of the Intratuin store process."
